Time: 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Join us for a 75-minute yoga class in honor of Juneteenth, followed by space to collectively unwind, reflect and connect. After class, stay for conversation, tea and vibrant mocktails for purchase. **This event was created to hold space for collective healing in the black community**
This practice is centered around softening, grounding, and healing the throat chakra through restorative yoga movement and vedic chanting. This session will open up with restorative yoga movement that is earthbound, opening the neck and shoulders followed by chanting. Participants will learn a beautiful peace mantra called “Asato Ma”. This vedic chant asks for the removal of suffering caused by outer and inner forces.
Chanting is another form of practice within Yoga. This will be an exchange through call and response in Sanskrit. This practice improves memory, works to extend the breath fully, softens the nervous system and provides a focal point that can lead to a deep meditative state.
